Autumn 2 – Then and Now

Our theme this half term is ‘Then and Now’ which covers celebrations from the past and present, as well as toys and traditions, which fits in nicely in the lead up to Christmas.

We begin with the Hindu festival of Diwali. We talk about how different cultures celebrate special events through cooking, dance, art and stories. During our keyworker group time we will be looking at our ‘All About Me’ books and discussing special events that have happened in our own lives. We will talk about how we have grown and changed. We will talk about things we played with when we were younger and compare toys from long ago to toys now.

The last few weeks will be all about the Christmas story. We will think about what it is like to wait for something special to arrive, such as seeing family or our birthdays. We will share the story of the Nativity and look at how Christians celebrate at this time of the year.
